Membership of Yate & Sodbury District U3A

u3a (The University of the Third Age) is a UK-wide movement which brings together people in their “third age” to develop their interests and continue their learning in a friendly and informal environment.

As the u3a is run entirely by its members, everyone’s skills and experiences are valuable and we all learn from each other by sharing our knowledge.

We currently have over 80 interest groups which are organised by the members. Full details can be found on this website and there are opportunities to meet new people, explore your interests or to introduce something completely new.

We produce a quarterly newsletter giving general information and details of recent group activities, see the News page.

Each month there is a talk by a variety of Speakers in Chipping Sodbury Town Hall where you can meet up and have a cup of tea: please see the events page for details of forthcoming talks.

Five times a year you can receive a magazine “Third Age Matters” which covers the activities of the u3a nationally as well as the latest information from The Third Age Trust.

There is no age limit to join and no awards or qualifications are required!

You are invited to visit any two of our groups twice to decide if the U3A is for you. It is then necessary for you to become a member to comply with conditions of insurance.

New Members: Our membership year runs from 1st May until 30 April each year and the annual fee is £8.00 per person. If you wish to join us please go to the Join Here page. If you are a taxpayer, please tick the Gift Aid box, this income enables us to keep our annual fee lower.

Existing members: Existing members will have received a notice of when and how to renew their membership in March. You can access and change your membership information on the Beacon Members Portal as well as renew your subscription using a credit/debit card. Instructions for registering on the portal are found in the Members Portal User Guide instructions for registering.
A paper membership form is also available to download.
