Notice 1: HOLD THE DATE 15 DEC CHRISTMAS SOCIAL
You are invited to the Yate & Sodbury u3a Christmas Social on the 15th of Dec from 2 till 4pm at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall
Due to concerns about the current Covid situation, there will not be a Christmas Concert this year. Instead, we will be holding a festive social event.

For this event all attendees will be seated at tables set out in the main hall with teas, coffees, mince pies and stollen cake served by our volunteer catering team. There will be some festive entertainment, so please bring a pen as there may be a quiz as well.

Numbers are limited, so you MUST BOOK YOUR PLACE by sending an email with your name to Pauline at YandS.u3a@gmail.com by Sunday 5th December. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. You will receive acknowledgement of your booking.

If you book a place, then find you are unable to attend, then please CANCEL your booking so that if there is a waiting list we can offer your place to someone else.

The Town Hall Trustees are recommending the use of face masks. A track and trace system will be in operation. This will be achieved by Members confirming their name is on the list as they arrive or using the QR code for the NHS COVID app. The use of sanitisers and some social distancing are also recommended.

Notice 2: u3a Open Day 8 October
Thank you….to all that supported the u3a Open Day. We have 76 new members since last month and requests for quite a few new groups. The turnout was great, and all group leaders were pleased with the footfall. Feedback received that it was well organised.

Notice 3: Travel Group planning Lochs and Glens trip 25th May 2022

The u3a Travel Group is planning to run a 5-day Lochs and Glens trip to Ardgartens, starting the 25th May 2022 at a cost of £354.

The trip includes visits to:
Hill House Helensburgh (designed and furnished by Rennie Macintosh)
The submarine centre
Isle of Bute with entry into Mount Stuart House
Glasgow, including the riverside Museum

The coach will pick up in Chipping Sodbury. Lochs and Glens holidays are very popular, so early booking is recommended. If you want to join, please make out a check for a £30 deposit to Lochs and Glens, complete the Booking Form on the Travel Group web page, and return via the contact link on the page. Any questions, contact Heather Duff or Kay Brock.

Notice 4: Yate & Sodbury District u3a Committee members needed, can you help?

The Executive Committee are asking you, our members, for help to run your u3a.

We are looking for volunteers to be co-opted onto our Executive Committee for the next few months to assist the Executive members during what we hope will be a return to our usual meetings and events. We currently have fewer Executive members than we would like and will be losing a few of those when their three-year term is up in April, so will also later in the year be looking for members to join the Executive Committee next year.

All we will ask of co-opted members is that they attend committee meetings, which are held on the first Wednesday afternoon of each month, and offer assistance at speaker meetings, the Open Day and others events as required. Please feel free to attend a committee meeting, with no obligation, to find out more about how we operate.

If you are interested, for more information and to arrange attending a committee meeting, please contact Lutie our Business Secretary or me Janet Stuart, Chair.
