IT Support
The IT Support Group is a network of people interested in helping members of our u3a with IT issues, such as how to use websites, what to do about backups and security, and how to transfer photographs from your phone to a laptop. This is in recognition that these days it is essential for members to be able to use computers or smart phones, in at least a basic way.
This group is in the process of being formed and we do not expect to have any regular meetings. Exactly how we work and what services we offer will depend on who joins the group and what skills and interests we have. What is certain is that we will not be able to solve all issues, nor help everyone.
There are ways we envisage possibly helping, such as:
- providing occasional hands-on courses
- pointing members to relevant local companies
- offering clinics
- linking members who need continuing help with an "e-buddy" who is happy to help
- listing useful web resources
- etc
However it must be emphasised that at the moment we cannot offer any help at all, apart from any links or advice published here. Members will be informed in various ways (and via this web page) when we are able to offer any practical support.

Good Things Foundation - A service for digitally excluded people which any local organisation can use to Fix the Digital Divide in their community, including Learn My Way to help people learn how to use the internet
iDEA mini courses - iDEA allows those who may never have thought of themselves as an achiever to become just that
Age UK - Tips, for people who are already online, to help them feel more confident when using the internet and stay safe while doing so
