This group started in September 2014 and since then members have made considerable progress. We worked through the BBC Talk German 1 book and most of BBC Talk German 2 to give us a basic grounding or revision. We have always used additional resources and are now enjoying reading short stories in German as a way of enlarging our vocabulary, understanding aspects of grammar and hearing and seeing modern German in context . We have also played bingo and other games, sung nursery rhymes, enjoyed role-plays and practised conversations in very small groups. The aim of the group is to keep alive and develop our knowledge of German, and to encourage each other to have a go at understanding and speaking German in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Several of the group have a German family connection so there is a real motivation to improve their German.
Our group currently is as large as is conducive to enabling everyone to fully participate. Regretfully therefore, there now has to be a waiting list. If space becomes available, I need to emphasise that we can no longer assimilate a complete beginner into the group, and we also require members to have access to the internet.
The group coordinator is Helen Woolley who can be contacted via the email link on the right of this page.
