Science, engineering and technology generally is part of modern life and our Group is for everyone.

  • You may not have a background in science or have worked in a science or engineering profession.
  • You may just be interested in what is going on around you and would like to learn more.
  • We meet every month [2nd Wednesday],in an informal atmosphere for about two hours.
  • We usually have a presentation followed by a discussion, but also have meetings where members bring in topical items for group discussion.

A few of the recent topics:

  • "Our industrial heritage"
  • "What happens when the oil runs out?"
  • "Creating stem cells"
  • "From Beer to Champagne -science behind modern tipple
  • “Charles Babbage - Father of the computer”
  • “The Robots are coming”
