British History
Convener: David Carter, telephone 023 9248 6534 or email canddcarter@btinternet.com.
When: Fourth Thursday of each month from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon
Venue: The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre, East Street, Havant
We are currently a small group of eight members that share interests in a wide range of topics and periods of British history. Our backgrounds are varied, none of us are 'experts.' We normally decide on a specific topic (eg. agriculture or a particular war) or a defined period (eg. the reign of Charles II) at least one month in advance and then research or collate material from sources such as books, TV programmes, the internet, etc. Our meetings are informal and 'free flow,' organised to give everyone who wishes to make a contribution to the discussion.
New members only require an enthusiastic interest in British History, and be prepared to do some preparatory reading, or researching topics decided in advance by group consensus. A willingness to voluntarily give short presentations to the group would be welcomed.
We meet at 10:00am to 12:00 noon on the fourth Thursday of each month in the The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre where we hire a room. The room charge is shared equally amongst among the group members and collected in advance.
New members are welcome.
