Play Reading Group
Living with the threat of Coronavirus
At the moment we can't physically meet on the 1st Wednesday of each month from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at 6 Grange Close, Denvilles, Havant, PO9 2QT but we could meet in virtual reality.
Leader: Ingrid Corrigan, telephone number 023 9279 0401
Ingrid writes: When we get back to normal we will continue to read a wide variety of plays from Shakespeare to Ayckbourn. I try to choose plays where there is the possibility of seeing them either live (Bench Theatre, Havant or Chichester) or on screen (DVD's or Vue Cinema).
In the meantime you are cordially invited to join a series of short weekly Zoom meetings, 3.00pm to 3.30pm, from Wednesday May 6th to Wednesday June 17th and the next play will be All My Sons by Arthur Miller. If you would like to take part in the reading, you will need your own book or Kindle version of the play. The libraries are closed now but Amazon is quick and relatively cheap. Please Contact Ingrid for further details.
Plays to watch online
There are plays being screened free from the National Theatre every Thursday from 2nd April and the Royal Shakespeare Company will also be broadcasting 6 plays on the BBC over the coming weeks. There are links to both these sites on this page and on the Havant U3A Links page.
For the first time, Chichester Festival Theatre is to stream a selection of its archive productions online, beginning with the musical Flowers for Mrs Harris from Thursday 9 April for the Easter weekend. The production will be available on the CFT website for 30 days and will be free to watch.
