Line dancing has been running within the Havant U3A for over 10 years and it is a requirement to be a member of this organisation.
The classes are held in the Bedhampton Community Centre on a Friday where we hold one hourly sessions at either 11am until 12noon, or 12 noon until 1pm. The year is divided into three terms, Spring, Summer and Autumn. The duration of each term is approximately 13 weeks.
As Easter is early this year the Summer Term will start on the 5th April and will be longer than is usual being 15 weeks long and ending on the 19th July. There will be no class on Friday 21st June.
The non-refundable fee is £45 payable in advance to our Treasurer.
Our tutor, Richard Hennessey is a professional dance teacher who runs a local dance academy, Dance Revival, where all types of dance, from ballroom to Latin are taught.
The group is constantly learning new dances, as well as practising the more familiar ones, so it is suitable for both experienced line dancers, but also those new to this form of exercise. Richard is a very experienced dance teacher, who takes the group slowly through each section of a dance in the warm up section, before the accompanying music is added. Many of the dancers enjoy the mental stimulation of dancing in a set routine as well as the physical benefits of the exercise sessions.
It is a very friendly and lively group where dancers attend on a weekly basis, the funds raised pay for the teacher's time and the hire of the hall. We are self financing and have 'balanced our books' over the years the classes have been running.
Please read the Havant U3A COVID Risk Assessment and the BCC Risk Assessment linked to this page. We will be pleased to answer any queries.
