Line dancing has been running within the Havant U3A since January 2013. The group usually meets in Bedhampton Community Centre on a Friday morning at 11am for most of the year.
We have a professional dance teacher, Richard Hennessey, who runs a local dance academy, Dance Revival, where all types of dance, from ballroom to zumba are taught.
We are pleased to announce we are resuming the Line Dancing from September whilst observing safe Covid practices as laid out by the Government, Havant U3A and Bedhampton Community Hall. Online classes are no longer available.
The Autumn term runs from 18th September to 4th December, members must pay for the whole term in full, £36.00, not refundable. Covid restrictions will be enforced, please read the Havant U3A COVID Risk Assessment and the BCC Risk Assessment linked to this page. We will be pleased to answer any queries.
The group is constantly learning new dances, as well as practising the more familiar ones, so it is suitable for both experienced line dancers, but also those new to this form of exercise. Richard is a very experienced dance teacher, who takes the group slowly through each section of a dance in the warm up section, before the accompanying music is added. Many of the dancers enjoy the mental stimulation of dancing in a set routine as well as the physical benefits of the exercise sessions.
It is a very friendly and lively group where dancers attend on a weekly basis, the funds raised pay for the teacher's time and the hire of the hall. We are self financing and have 'balanced our books' over the 3 years the classes have been running.
