Scrabble

Living with the threat of Coronavirus!

At the moment we can't meet for our usual game of Scrabble on the second Friday afternoon of the month.

I will update this page weekly with Scrabble news and a Scrabble competition. No prizes (except glory), but I hope to publish the winning entry and runner up on this page.

20TH MARCH COMPETITION

This was a fiendish set of letters, taken from a real game. Marilyn Browne sent in the winning entry, adding 'I' and 'E' to make DIPER and IN for 12 points, as in the second picture. Pam Tring was runner up adding 'E' and 'IL' to make PERIL in the same area for 9. In a real game the second solution might have been a good move with a chance to swap one more of those horrible letters.

27 MARCH COMPETITION

This weeks competition moves on from Marilyn's solution.Double click on the picture to see the full board. This weeks letters are kinder and the letter next to the E is a blank. What would your next word be?

Email me your answer. The competition closes midnight on Thursday 2nd April and the winner will be announced the following day.

ONLINE SCRABBLE

Marilyn and two other people have been playing on line using WORDS WITH FRIENDS If anyone else wants to play, let me know and I will put you in touch. My apologies as I haven't had a go myself yet.
