Poetry (writing)

Meeting: 3rd Monday 1.30pm
at 24 Manor Close, Havant (entrance in Prince George's Street)
Contact: Denise Bennett 023 9248 0577 or denisebennett1912@gmail.com

This is a friendly, supportive group. During each session we will do writing exercises to promote our own creativity as well as reading work by established poets, looking at various themes and forms of poetry ie: sonnet/villanelle/ haiku/free verse etc. We will explore the way, as Philip Larkin says, the emotion starts in the poet and ends up in the reader...' You will be expected to bring copies of your own poems to each meeting for discussion and comments. If you don't produce any writing between meetings this doesn't matter - you are welcome to come along and share in the discussion. I am introducing a new idea to the group. Once a month we will look in depth at a poem written by one member, in order to develop our workshop skills
