A bit about the group:

We meet on the first Thursday of the month at 2:00pm

So often we hear that religion is the source of argument and conflict and little attention is given to the benefits that people of faith have brought. We seek to explore the influence that people of faith have had on various aspects of our society. It is intended that participants will research and contribute, rather than be taught. We don’t have all the answers but we can appreciate different perspectives, share experiences and learn from one another.

We are thinking of areas like:

Education – Sunday Schools which were the precursor to education for all in this country
Environment - appreciation of creation and stewardship for future generations
Government – prayer in the Houses of Parliament
Social change – areas of children’s rights, the homeless. Shaftesbury
Medicine – initiating hospitals, developing drugs, medical advances, hospice movement
Business and working environment - Wilberforce, Cadbury, Costa, Timpsons, unions
Arts – CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien, paintings, Oberammergau
Music – Handel, Bach & Mozart through to Jesus Christ Superstar, U2
Sport – football clubs
Charities – Red Cross, Red Crescent, RSPCA etc
