Great Short Stories
No, it’s not a writing group and not about books.
We explore brilliant stories short enough to hold in a few pages and analyse together in an hour. Some are tight and efficient; others are cruel and clever, occasionally a simple masterpiece lays bare a wounded heart.
Tuesday 2-3pm on Zoom,when set free because we like the rigour and excitement of the hour.
No chatting, no flim-flam. We meet weekly with occasional breaks to catch the breath; there are two groups both reading the same story and fretting about what’s in a title and why; the strength of a character, the meaning of silences as well as of language.
Fiction tells the tales of ourselves as well as others. We've made friends with strangers on the printed page and live ones on the ZOOM gallery. But what is more real than sharing discoveries, and laughter too? Welcome to the magic of The Short Story.
