The Sudbury U3A Photographic Group meets on the second Tuesday of every other month at 2 p.m. We meet at the group leader’s house in Groton and another member’s house in Middleton as we both have reasonable off-street parking. For this reason we have restricted membership to a nominal 10 but have on occasion stretched it to 11 as not all members can make it to every meeting.
At each meeting we set a topic for the next meeting, the idea being that members use the next two months to take photographs on that topic (or perhaps trawl through their back catalogue for suitable images). All images are then displayed on a television screen from the member’s USB stick or camera memory card. We each bring along about ten images with maybe a few spares, which we show and discuss.
We have tried a couple of times to set up a group photo shoot in the intervening month to take photos on our topic or to look at ways of improving technique, such as getting off auto.
You do not need a sophisticated camera to join but it does need to produce digital images. Some good photos are taken using smart phones!
