Bridge (Social)
This group meets at The Jetty, close to the Quay Theatre, on Monday afternoons.
We have a course designed to encourage absolute beginners to learn how to play bridge. We then look to develop and improve their play to the extent that people can either enjoy the game socially or join a club to play competitively.
We overlay this by having talks given by members on specific aspects of the game, following an organised programme.
It costs £1 per person per session to cover costs of hiring The Jetty, and buying tables, bidding boxes, score cards, playing cards, etc., all of which are quite expensive.
The interest group’s principal objective is to provide an informal forum for playing social Bridge for fun on a Monday afternoon within a mixed ability group whereby friendly discussion can provide an atmosphere to promote a means of enhancing one’s skill. The grouping of players is not formerly allocated but is by participants choice and partner selection is by consent on the day. Members may come as individuals or with a preferred partner but numbers on the day sometimes dictates the playing arrangement.
