Circle Dancing
First of all, as the name suggests, it is danced in a circle. Participants don't need a partner, nor do they need to have done any dancing before.
Most of the dances are based on folk dances from southern and eastern Europe. They vary from a dance with one step repeated several times, to more complicated ones with a longer sequence of steps. NO, you don't have to remember the dances from week to week as no matter how many times we have done a dance before we learn it again from scratch, and if you feel you want to sit out a dance that's OK.
There is a saying in circle dancing. "No one ever goes wrong, it's just creative choreography". Most of all it is fun.
And we always welcome new members.
After each meeting we adjourn to the Quay Bar for coffee and a chat. We meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month, from 10.00-11.30am.
