About the Science Group
The Edinburgh U3A Science Group invites scientists who are authorities in their field to give presentations on their research, after which members usually bombard them with questions! The talks cover a wide variety of scientific topics and are generally intended to interest any intelligent listener - a scientific background is not necessary. On average, about 40 U3A members attend each meeting.
Any member of the Edinburgh U3A is welcome to attend any of the meetings - you do not have to formally join the Science Group, nor commit to attending meetings regularly. However, the group maintains an email list of U3A members who attend its meetings, so that a reminder email can be sent out before each meeting. Everyone is encouraged to suggest speakers for next year's programme.
The Group also organises occasional outings.
