Chinnor u3a Walking Groups

Walking is beneficial to mental health, managing health conditions and improves cardiovascular fitness and energy levels. u3a offers walks for every level of fitness and ability. Below is a summary of the walks we have on offer and when in the month they occur.

STROLLERS Strollers 4

Distance/Time- 1 -1.5 miles taking roughly 1 hour on level ground at a pace that suits the group on the day. This walk is organised for the less able bodied who would like to stroll with friends and enjoy 'walking & talking and a cuppa when possible! Strollers also gives the opportunity to rehabilitate and get fit again after illness or surgery.

Waterstock Mill SHORT WALKS Short Walks 2

Distance - usually about 3 miles.
These walks are fairly easy, usually no steep hills, not many stiles or other obstacles, and hopefully not much mud!!! Again, very sociable usually ending in a café for a chance to chat.

LEISURE WALKS Leisure Walks 2

Distance up to 4 miles
This walk is for those looking for a more leisurely pace, pausing to take photos, spot birds, flora and fauna or to just look at the scenery. Very sociable and most have a coffee break.

Chiltern Heights MEDIUM WALKS Medium Walks 2

Distance – circular walks, averaging 5-6 miles across varied terrain.
Led by group members, we stop regularly to take a sip of water, admire the view or to get our breath back! Each walk will indicate the level of difficulty, mileage and whether there are hills or stiles. Why not join us to stretch your legs and enjoy the socialising.

LONG WALKS Long Walks 2

Distance - 6 to 9 miles
The longer walks tend to be in the Summer and sometimes include an additional picnic break. All our walks are led by group members. The length and description of the walk are detailed in advance so you can choose which walks you would like to join. It is a fun group with the opportunity to see some spectacular scenery and maybe even visit some places you didn’t even know existed whilst keeping fit and active.

Di and Anthea NORDIC WALKING Nordic Walking 2

Distance/Time - Walks are planned to last for 1.5 hours to include warm up and cool down.
Nordic Walking is an enhanced walking technique that uses poles to work your upper body, your core as well as your legs. It gives you a highly effective all over workout that doesn’t feel like one! Nordic Walking is a fun and social activity that can be enjoyed in town centres or open countryside throughout the year.
Nordic Walking uses specially designed poles – (not to be confused with trekking poles) taking the pressure from your joints thereby enhancing your natural walking experience.
