Leisurely Walking

LEISURE WALKING

The Leisure Group walk is on the 4th Tuesday of every month except December. The co-ordinator is Janet Lambert. Group walking has become very popular with 3 walking groups meeting on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd weeks of each month. However, we have become aware that there might be an interest in a new Leisure Walking Group focused on walks of about 4 miles prepared to pause to take photos, look at birds, flowers or just look at the scenery.

The next Leisure Walk on Tuesday 23 November 10.00 am will be led by Peter Hetherington through the Stowe Landscape Gardens approximately 4 miles from Buckingham. The address is New Inn Farm, Buckingham, MK18 5EQ. Look for the brown National Trust directional signs. NT Members free but you must bring your membership card please. Non Members £13.00.

A 4 mile walk which approaches the parkland through the Corinthian Gate and visits the Home Park, South Vista, Elysian Fields, Hawkwell Hill, and the Grecian Valley. Lakes, Temples, Statues and an excellent close up view of the listed house. Entry not possible. A shorter 2 mile walk will also be offered with the possibility of a longer visit to the café.

Good café at end of walk. Walking shoes or Boots please. Parking free but suggest car sharing.

Booking required please. Leaders Peter and Rosie Hetherington

26th October Walk - Peter Gibbons led the walk starting from Kingston Blount via Chalford and back through Aston Rowant.

The first Leisurely Walk took place on 24th August. Peter Hetherington led from Benson Pleasure Park, 4 miles along the Thames. We crossed Shillingford Bridge and continued to the site of the old Thames Ferry, cutting back on a permissive path across the Earth Trust’s farm land, returning along the river from Shillingford to Benson.
