Writing for Fun

We meet (virtually for the present) at 10.30am on the second Monday of each month. In preparation for each meeting we each try to write usually 500 – 1200 words on a given topic.

Recent topics have included writing about:

  • an obituary of an imaginary person
  • an inn sign
  • “the man in front of me fell down and lay still”
  • “there are fairies at the bottom of my garden”
  • two different pictures.

We also write off the cuff for up to 10 minutes on something prepared/suggested by a member of the group; for instance a bunch of flowers, a photo, a situation. Recently we were challenged to think of 3 people (living or dead) we would like to invite to tea, why we’d like to invite them, and a question we would ask them.

Our main aim is to encourage one another and it is delightful to see how differently we approach a subject.
