Gardening

Kingsbridge Farm

Kingsbridge Farm This was the first of this years' visits and it certainly did not disappoint. Despite the chilly breeze, the rain held off and over 45 people across two groups, enjoyed the spectacular 6 acre garden in Steeple Claydon. Some pictures taken on the day can be seen here, but for more views of this garden, click on the link in the right hand column.

Our next visit is on Wednesday 15th May and we are going to the Walled Garden on the Wormsley Estate. If you haven't already put your name down to join this visit, contact Ann Hine on 01844 351154 for further details.

Chinnor U3A Gardening Group now has around 120 members. We are active throughout the year, and meet on the third Wednesday of the month. Like most gardening activities, we have two distinct seasons.
A summer visit

SUMMER
During the summer months, April to October, we organise visits to various gardens within driving distance. Most of these gardens cannot take large numbers of visitors, and so the group is divided into two halves, Morning and Afternoon, visiting the same garden on the same day. Morning group is from 10.30 until 12.00 and the afternoon group from 14.30 until 16.00.
Payment for these visits is made on the day, on arrival at the venue.

RHS Wisley

We also organise two or three coach visits, which are always very popular and are booked on a first come, first serve basis. Coaches are usually 50 - 60 seaters and places are taken up very quickly.

WINTER
During the winter months, from November to March, we meet on the third Wednesday of the month in the Chinnor Scout Hut. We have a speaker at each of these meetings and they are chosen for their particular gardening experience and knowledge. Doors open at 10.00 for coffee and tea and the talk starts at around 10.30. The cost of these meetings is covered by the annual subscription.

SUBSCRIPTIONS
Annual subscription of £8.00 per person is payable in March, when the summer programme is made available and circulated.
There is a reply sheet attached to the programme, which must be completed and returned to Group organisers as soon as possible, as this establishes numbers of visitors each month.
(Morning Group Organiser - Maureen Owens)
(Afternoon Group Organiser - Ann Hine)

PAYMENT FOR VISITS The Big House
The cost of individual visits is listed on the summer programme and is paid on the day to the group organiser unless prepayment is requested by the garden owner.

COACH OUTINGS
A separate application form is issued about a month prior to the visit, which has to be completed and returned with payment, to the trip organiser. These applications are treated on a strictly first come first served basis.
