Chinnor & District

Welcome from Nettie, our Chair

WELCOME TO CHINNOR & DISTRICT u3a!

Nettie, Our Chair

You might be wondering what the u3a is and what you could get from it? Let me explain.

It is part of a national organisation for people who are no longer in fulltime employment and may be looking for social, stimulating activities and experiences. It is fun, friendly, functional, fulfilling, flourishing and forward thinking.

A small cost of £15.00 per year gives you access to speaker meetings where there are presentations on a wide range of topics and the chance to get involved in special interest groups where the participants can learn from each other. The emphasis is on having fun.

Special Interest Groups include

Art History, Art (creative), Computer Technology

Gardening, Natural History, Walking (for all abilities) a range of card and games groups, to mention just a few of the many (33) interest groups.

If there is something you’re interested in and it isn’t listed, with your help, a new group could be set up.

The Speaker meetings are held in the Village hall every 3rd Thursday afternoon of the month. Topics have included

  • A Grandmothers Legacy - My Great Aunt Constance and the Civilian Burma Treck
  • Alexander Litvinenko – Polonium Murder
  • Why and how we restored Red Kites across Britain
  • Water Quality and the climate emergency
  • The silver screen

There are opportunities to meet together for days out, holidays and other social events.

Why not explore this website where you will find:

  • Information about forthcoming Speaker meetings on the Events page
