Nordic Walking
Nordic Walking was formed out of the thinking that it would benefit the wellbeing of many members not just that of existing walkers. A grant was received from SODC which enabled us to purchase the necessary equipment. There has been an overwhelming response from applicants. Our tutor Anthea Osborn Jones has been on hand to introduce us to the technique with Taster Sessions taking place between Oct and Dec. (we have been practising at the REC)
We are a very new group all learning a new exercise. Our first away walk of 2024 took place at Christmas Common on 26 Jan with walks thereafter taking place on 1st Friday of the month. The April walk on 12th was circular from Lions of Bledlow and the first walk locally led by Dorothea Dunn. Weather was very favourable with Spring very much in evidence with lots of lovely lambs in the fields. Next walk will be on Fri 3 May at 2pm - On Phoenix Trail, Towersey Railway ramp entrance. Parking OX9 3QY.
There will be a Well Being Walk in May for those without any previous knowledge of Nordic Walking and for those that prefer a more gentle exercise and wishing to work on their existing knowledge. This will take place at the REC Chinnor, further details to follow.
Dorothea Dunn is coordinator of this new group.
