The group, being the only U3A computer group in the area, has proved popular. The membership is made up of U3A members from Thame and Haddenham as well as from Chinnor U3A. We meet on the first Friday of every month starting at 2.30pm until 4pm. The maximum membership of the group has been set at 36 because of the limit in capacity of the Chinnor Village Centre, Chiltern Room where we met before the pandemic. We have never reached this maximum number and the group has capacity for new members to join us.
The group has been able to hold its regular monthly meeting throughout the pandemic thanks to Zoom. Each meeting has been well supported, typically attracting about a dozen members on each occasion.
We have managed to run a varied programme. We try to cover a range of computer subjects covering not just the technical aspects of computing. Subjects range from the ins and outs of VPN’s (Virtual Private Networks), members describing what they can and can’t use their IPads for, to how digital technology has impacted our hobbies such as photography. Some meetings are held as round-table discussions via Zoom sharing experiences and problems which provides variety from talks and presentations.
If you are interested in joining us please contact Peter Brook or Molly Milner. It would be of benefit if you already have some working knowledge of Windows, Android, Apple or Linux operating systems as you would probably get more out of the meetings than if you were a complete novice.
