The Challenging Walks Group meets on the 3rd Friday of each month for a 10 mile or so walk. In the early part of this year walks are planned to start at Peckleton, Mount St Bernard Abbey, Outwoods and Lyddington. For later in the year the group is considering tackling the 100 mile Leicestershire Round in a series of circular walks, a trip to Derbyshire, a 20 mile 'flat' walk and a walk up a mountain! Nothing is finalised yet.
In 2016 the group completed the Charnwood 4 Peaks walk and the 84 mile National Forest Way in 10 stages.
Strange as it may seem, the idea of walking a long way in all sorts of conditions under foot and overhead is actually appealing to quite a number of people and the popularity of this group means we have now reached a just about manageable number of 25 members.
