Are you interested in the pursuit of wisdom and critical thinking?
If so, you may wish to join this group.
We hold a monthly meeting in the Restaurant of The Nag's Head in Glenfield, starting at 10am and finishing no later than 11:45am. As time is at a premium please arrive a little earlier to ensure a prompt start at 10am.
At these a member presents a brief introduction of a philosophical concept of their choice, for the group to debate and discuss in a lively but always respectful way.
These can focus on a particular philosopher's writings and ideas or a more general philosophical theme.
The aim is for the members to have fun as well as food for thought, not to win arguments.
Jackie Willan has kindly agreed to take on the initial Group Coordinator role. She can be contacted via the message icon on the top right of this page
The chairperson for each meeting is rotated among group members. Their role is to ensure the meetings allow all who wish to contribute to have their say and to deputise for the convenor in the event of absence.
The nature of the group means that meetings can have no more than 10 attendees and there is already a waiting list of potential members.
It is hoped that there will be sufficient interest to start up a second group in the future to ensure all potential members can contribute.
If you are interested in joining please initially contact Jackie, as above, or email: Groups Secretary .
