Writers 1

Writers 1 meets at 2 pm on the 2nd Friday of the month at Kirby Muxloe Community Library.
The Group covers a wide range of interests, poetry, short stories, novel writing, writing for children, memoir and autobiography. Several of our members have published work. There is a very collaborative feel and great enthusiasm for developing skills. Importantly, we have a lot of fun.
Members lead sessions on points that interest them, or they have knowledge of, but the focus is to listen to pieces either regarding personal projects, or prompts suggested by the group. Feedback is encouraged.
We were delighted to welcome Rod Duncan, local author, to our May meeting to lead a workshop. In September we ran our second Study Day led by local tutor John Kitchen. October saw the publication of a second Anthology in collaboration with Writers 2 and the Photography Group.
We are always looking for new ways to improve and enliven our writing and fortunately there is no shortage of ideas – or people to guide us. We combine with Writers 2 and other U3A writers when occasion demands.
This group put a cap on numbers and has now reached its quota of 15 members, but if you are keen to get writing in a group there are places available in Writers 2.
