HERE IS SOMETHING NEW
As part of Maths Week England (https://mathsweekengland.co.uk/) in November 2020 the U3A are running the following three UK wide events on Zoom.
|Talk by Rob Eastaway, Maths on the Back of an Envelope 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm on Monday November 9th 2020|
|Rob Eastaway is an author of popular maths books such as Maths on the Back of an Envelope, Why Do Buses Come in Threes? and Maths for Mums and Dads. His first book was What is a Googly?, an explanation of cricket for Americans and other newcomers to the game.|
|This event will include a 45-minute talk by Rob Eastaway followed by Q & A on ‘Maths on the Back of an Envelope’.|
|Maths Problems and Puzzles workshop 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Wednesday November 11th 2020|
|An interactive event solving maths puzzles for a range of abilities. Two puzzles will be sent out to registered||participants prior to the event and the session will look at how people addressed these as well as additional puzzles.|
|Maths Activities and Games 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Friday November 13th 2020|
|This fun session of interactive games and puzzles is part of the U3A series of events to tie in with Maths Week 2020. Come along to try out your maths and numerical ability with the chance of winning a U3A and maths related prize.|
|The workshop will be hosted by David Martin, U3A Maths and Stats Subject Adviser.|

Maths-is-Fun has continued to be fun.
Every time we should have met, I have sent some puzzles to members of the group. And last time’s answers! I think they enjoy it. Certainly, lots of WhatsApp discussion between us all.
