Classic Books 1
We meet at Leadon Bank Craft Room, 1st Monday in each month, 2pm to 3.30pm with a tea break.
We have already decided on our book choices for the first half of 2019 (starting with 'One pair of Hands' by Monica Dickens) and are all set for another interesting year of classic books.
Our group continues to flourish and we usually have a lively discussion about each book and the time period of its setting compared to the present century.
Classic Books 2
Meetings are held monthly on the fourth Wednesday from 2:00 in the Craft Room at Leadon Bank.
We have read mainly 18th, 19th and early 20th century books (nothing newer than 1950-ish) but for 2019 we are moving the focus a little and will include books from 20th Century that we believe will become classics.
Our next 3 months books are:
May................Memento Mori.............Muriel Spark
June...............Of Mice and Men.........John Steinbeck
July................The Forsyte Saga........John Galsworthy
At the moment we are not able to accept any more members.
Classic Books 3
We meet on the 2nd Tuesday 2 - 3:30 pm in the Leadon Bank Craft Room
This new group has had a good start & stimulating discussions with Wodehouse’s “Joy in the Morning” & Steinbeck’s “Grapes of Wrath” and is following up with Joseph Heller’s “Catch 22” in April & Stella Gibbons’ “Cold Comfort Farm” in May.
The intention is to select books from modern classics, with the choice being made in turn by members and the discussion led by whosoever's choice it is for the month
