The group selects books from modern classics (defined as recognised classics or those books we think will become classics in the future), with the choice being made in turn by members and the discussion being led by whomsoever's choice it is for the month.
Recent selections have included:
Gorky Park by Martin Cruz Smith;
The Kite Runner by Khaled Husseini;
Machines Like Me by Ian McEwan;
The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak.
If you would like to join our group, we will put your name on a waiting list, and when numbers are sufficient and we can find a new leader and venue, we will set up a second group.

For our January meeting we will bring a book that we have read during 2023 and can recommend to the group. In February we will be reading A Month in the Country by JL Carr and the book for March is Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro.
Our group usually has a lively discussion about each book.
