ContactWelsh Language and Culture

The group initially started two and a half years ago as Welsh for Beginners. There’s a wide range of abilities within the group and beginners are still welcome. We’ve learned a lot in the time and had a lot of fun along the way.

We appreciate that learning a language with only two lessons a month is not ideal, so to make progress most of us supplement the work done in group meetings with some on-line learning. There are several websites offering courses for this, but most of us use Duolingo which is very good and has the benefit of being free.

As well as learning the language, meetings also involve much comparing of our own experiences of Welsh culture, history, sport and geography etc. This includes occasionally having a go at singing popular Welsh songs, e.g. to celebrate the “Six Nations”.

All you really need is a love of Wales!
