The group meets for an afternoon of a friendly game of Mah Jong. Beginners are welcome and will be taught how to play the game.
Mah Jong is an ancient Chinese game for four players, played with a set of 136 tiles. Each individual player tries to complete a hand of fourteen tiles according to rules which are not dissimilar to Rummy but offer much more scope for strategy and skill. It should not be confused with a game to be found on the internet and computers, which is basically a pairs game using the Mah Jong tiles.
