This group is a continuation of the previous "German Improvers" group and focuses on simple conversations with material from various teaching books, the internet and short story books.
For example we have read some children’s stories and fairy tales, such as Goldilocks, in German and a novel: “Plotzlich Shakespeare” which is very funny and modern. It introduces words like Frauenklischee (a cliché of a woman) and “besass ich Orangenhaut, zu dicke Waden und sah bei schlechtem Licht aus wie ein Haengebauchpuma” (I had skin like orange peel, calves that are too thick and in a bad light looked like a pot-bellied puma), not the usual vocabulary of standard German texts! Some members also write to German friends and read the letters and replies to the group.
