Once you are no longer in full-time employment you will be welcome to join Droitwich u3a where our aim is to learn something new, laugh a lot but most importantly live life to the fullest extent possible.

Where are we?

Our members are mainly drawn from Droitwich Spa and the surrounding villages but we also welcome members from outside our immediate catchment area.

Nationally, there are about 1,000 u3as in the UK - nearly every town has one. Established in 2012, as u3as go, Droitwich u3a is not large, we have approximately 450 members, and we are very friendly and our size allows new members to quickly feel at home.

How do our members get together?

On the afternoon of the third Monday of each month, we hold a talk in the Norbury Theatre when we are entertained and informed by a wide variety of speakers.

We also hold a well attended Christmas Lunch and a Strawberry Tea in the summer, and with ideas to engage members in new activities in the pipeline we are always open to new suggestions for things to do.

Is that all we do?

Most of the activities of Droitwich u3a involve members belonging to one or more of over 50 smaller interest groups that regularly meet-up during the day to engage in something they enjoy (such as walking or playing Bridge) or to try something new (such as learning a foreign language or finding out about their family Genealogy). With more new groups starting all the time - there is always plenty of choice.

How are the groups run?

The real backbone of Droitwich u3a is the people who run our groups. These are members who also volunteer to run interest groups, sharing their knowledge and skills to teach others and at the same time learning themselves. We are always on the lookout for new members willing to share knowledge and skills with others. Could this be you?

How is the u3a organised?

Like all u3as we have a Committee of members who volunteer to guide policy and involve themselves in the day to day running of the organization. We publish a bi-monthly Newsletter containing the latest news, updates and group information and forthcoming events together with all contact details. Our u3a tries to keep members informed through email and posting information online although we are happy to use snail mail for those who have yet to embrace the joys of the computer, something with which we can help.

Finally ...

Our u3a is all about friendship, keeping active in body and mind, and enjoying our leisure hours in ways that were not open to previous generations.

Please spend a few minutes browsing through our website. It could be the start of something new - a life changing experience.
