Rules and Organisation
All equipment is provided.
Every member of the group will receive an individual booklet, which sets out (i) the ‘Oxford’ rules, (ii) the layout of the lawn, and (iii) an individual scoring record sheet.
The dates of u3a croquet meetings will be emailed to members in advance. Meetings will be held on different days of the week (Monday-Friday), the assumption being that not everyone will attend every meeting. In addition, some meetings may need to be cancelled due to weather conditions.
Individual members will record their wins (and losses) on their own scoring sheet (found on the back page of the booklet). A Master record will also be maintained. The object of our mini tournament is for every member to play every other member over the season. (The winner will gain 1 tournament point, the loser will have “nil points”.)
The cost of each session will be £1 per person – this will be used to offset the cost of the equipment, refreshments and, if we are permitted to use the Pavilion, a donation will be given to the Cricket Club.
The convener (or the nominated deputy) will ensure all equipment is set out on the field at the start of the session and then collected, cleaned and taken away at the end of the afternoon.
All meetings will start at 2.30pm to 4.30pm and members wishing to participate should congregate by the Cricket Pavilion on Wadhurst Commemoration Field (simply take the path by the Library down the field).
