Wadhurst u3a and Uplands Sports Centre
Some of our members are regular users of the Uplands Sports Centre, but for those who haven’t yet ventured inside, it’s well worth a visit. Located along the path from the Greyhound Car Park, it’s a fantastic facility that has something for everyone, irrespective of age or fitness level.
The Centre has always welcomed u3a members and we are delighted that a range of new activities are now being offered to us at a special discounted price of £4.50 per session (or £30 per month as part of Uplands membership scheme). This is a considerable saving on the standard rate of £8.50 per session. Simply, show your current u3a membership card to the reception on arrival.
What classes are available?
Active Plus 20-20-20 - Tuesdays at 11.10am and Thursdays at 10.05am
Aimed at beginners, these classes offer a gentle mix of 20 minutes cardio exercise, 20 minutes tone and strengthening, followed by 20 minutes flexibility and stretching. Cost is £4.50 for current members of Wadhurst u3a (normally £8.50).
It's a great way to make new friends. On Tuesdays, some of our members even stay on for the u3a Table Tennis session which starts at 12.30pm (see their group page for further details).
On Wednesdays, at 12.05pm there's also Chair Yoga.
To book into one of the classes, simply show your current u3a membership card to the reception on arrival. I’m generally in the Foyer to welcome new members from 11am on Tuesdays and 10am on Thursdays.
Pilates and Tai Chi are also offered. Concessions for u3a members may be available.
You’ll find the staff at the Centre very friendly and welcoming. The instructors are all fully qualified, understand some of the limitations that come with age, and they’re always willing to adapt the exercises to suit individual needs and capabilities.
Like to find out more about what’s on offer but still feeling nervous?
No problem, just contact me (via the Bluebird button) to arrange a convenient time to meet up. I’m happy to show you around the Sports Centre, introduce you to everyone and, if you’d like some company, join you when you try out your first class!
Remember, gentle exercise is good for both our physical health and mental well-being. It’s also a great way to meet new people and have some fun too!
