We meet on the 1st monday of the month.....except bank holidays at 2pm in the Northumberland Hall at St Cuthberts Church
I hope everyone is looking forward to our Vindolandia trip (currently I have two people on the waiting list) So far I have seven people getting on the bus at Freckleton at 8.40: Joan & Alan Wiggins, John & Chris Walmsley, Anne Martin, Dale Starr & Jane Wardle. The rest will be getting on at Lancaster Road at 9am.
Our next meeting due to all the bank holidays is June 3rd when Barrie Tyrer from Ribble Valley Archaeology will be talking on "Recent excavations including the section of Roman road running through the civil parishes of Downham and Rimington. This is part of the Roman road running from Ribchester (Bremetennacum /Veteranorum) to Ilkley via Elslack and then to York Ivan Margary number 72a".
Then on the 1st July we visit Heysham with a guided Walking tour of the village including walking up to St. Peters with a guided tour of the church, the rock cut graves, Carr Garth and Main Street ending at the Heritage Centre with time to look around there. The tour will be led by Julie Trushton from the Heysham Heritage Centre
