Local History 1
We mainly meet on the second Wednesday in the month (although this can vary due to a venue's requirements) in the afternoon, to visit places of local historical interest - and preferably where there is good coffee and cake! I aim to be inclusive as far as transport is concerned and will only organise outings to places we can get to by public transport. Obviously if you prefer to drive, you can - but being a non-driver myself I won't be able to advise on parking etc. Outings are free to attend but of course there are entry fees and transport costs.
In the Winter months - November, December and January - there are talks of Local History interest held by both Local History Groups, usually at St Cuthbert's Centre, which are open to all U3A members. No need to be a member of anything to come along to these, and the normal charge of £3.00 applies.
If you want to become a member, simply contact me. However, if you are already a member of Local History 2, please do not ask to join this group. Members of Local History 1 are also requested to not ask to join Local History 2.
If you are not a member, but would like to join an outing, you are welcome to do so if there are vacancies available. Just ask!
I am working on the programme for the upcoming autumn and winter 2023/24.
