This Group meets every Monday evening between 7pm-9pm at Cheshunt High School, College Road (opposite Crocodile Pub!). The cost is now £3.00 per person [free car parking]. All abilities welcome. Racquets and table tennis bats have been purchased.
A Table Tennis session is held weekly at Waltham Abbey Community Hall by Broxbourne U3A, if interested please ring Wendy Shirley on 01992 893037 they are in need of more players.
The group is going well so why not consider coming along. If you only want to do one of the activities, that is fine, we aim to have a social and not too competitive atmosphere, so we cater for all levels from beginners upwards. There is room for more participants!
Aim of the group
To give members of all abilities, including those who have never played before, the opportunity to play Badminton and Table Tennis in a relaxed and sociable group, with the emphasis on enjoyment rather than highly competitive.
We play in the main hall, where there are two Badminton Courts and enough room to have two table tennis tables in use at one time.
The group met and had a barbeque based meal at the Highland in Broxbourne during August, which was much enjoyed by all.
Contact Stewart Wagstaff for more information on 01992 624706.
Our annual Christmas meal was held at the Prince of Wales, Goffs Oak, where twenty seven of us enjoyed a three course meal. During the meal a Quiz for 'southern softies' was undertaken, which put Doncaster on everyone's bucket list of places to visit!!!
Seven of the Table Tennis group had a very social evening at Newgate Street Village Hall, playing against Newgate Street Table Tennis Group. With the average age clearly 10/15 years our junior we were well able to hold our own! The final result being declared an honourable draw. Refreshment at the pub afterwards was just reward!
We have 15 to 20 members, who play Badminton and Table Tennis. It's no problem if you only want to play one of the disciplines.
The Main Hall at Cheshunt School.
With two table tennis tables and two badminton courts, normally playing doubles, we can play up to 16 players at a time.
All playing equipment is provided, so not having a racquet is no excuse!
We play every Monday night throughout the school year, the emphasis is on having a good social/fun night. We aim to start at 7pm and finish at 9pm if not exhausted!
