Moray Coast

Walking

This was the first Moray Coast interest group up and running (sorry Walking). The group meets on the First Saturday of each month at 10.00am. The starting point and details for each walk will be displayed on this page when they are confirmed.

The educational subjects the walking group covers on each walk includes local and current affairs, the geography, history, flora and fauna of the area of that particular days walk. We also discuss the various other interest groups and gain an insight or interest in perhaps joining them.

WALKING SAFETY
For their personal safety all walkers are asked to complete a form containing personal information including an emergency contact number and brief details of known medical conditions. Walkers keep this in a sealed envelope either in their rucksack or jacket. THE ENVELOPE WILL ONLY EVER BE OPENED IN THE CASE OF A SERIOUS MEDICAL EMERGENCY. A copy of this form can be downloaded by clicking the LINK at the right hand side of the page.

2018 - 2019 Session

For the October 2018 walk we meet in Charlestown of Aberlour and took the bus from the square to Dufftown alighting at Glenfiddich distillery.
We then walked over the Hill of Gownie back to Aberlour, taking coffee in a new cafe and craft shop next to the Co-op. The weather was clear and dry for this most enjoyable walk.

The walk on Saturday January 5th was another great walk starting from the access road to the Badentinan Water Treatment Plant and walking up to the summit of Brown Muir at 339 metres, 1,112 feet. Great, open views were obtained at the summit of this moor. Another great walk organised by Ian. After the walk we went to Baxters for cheese scones and coffee.

The Next Walk

The next walk is on Saturday 2nd of March Meet at 10.00a.m. at the Logie Steading Car Park. We will be taking a wander down the Findhorn. Let Ian know if you are coming so that he can book a table at the cafe for the obligatory cheese scones and coffee.

Look at the photo's in the gallery below to get an idea of where we walk.

For general information please go to our Contact page.
