Conversational French

In the recent past our Conversational French group has had inspiring leaders in Joan Mackenzie, Lorna Reid and Juliet Stewart.
The U3A is a self help organisation and even when we have spells without an experienced language instructor we continue to make progress; sometimes good progress. We also have a lot of fun.

The group caters for those of little or no experience of the French Language as well as those who took French at school many years ago but have forgotten most of what they learned. Members of the group are expected to pay, at cost, for any photocopied materials that they use.

Our Meetings

Meetings are currently being held in member's homes. If you wish to join this group but have not been before then use the Contact link to send an email and someone will get back to you as soon as possible with directions and contact details.

Meetings are informal, relaxed, great fun and well organised. Meetings usually have a break for tea or coffee at some point. Will regular members please let Helen know if you will be attending or not.

The Conversational French Group meets occasionally over the summer months at members homes in order to practice our French. Regular members will be contacted by email. The 2018 - 2019 session started in earnest in September. Many thanks to Tam and Jane for hosting the meeting on Tuesday 25th September. The refreshments were excellent and there was a lot of laughter during the course of the evening.

Next Meeting

The next meeting will be at 7.30 pm on Tuesday 30th April à la maison de Ian et Margaret à Findochty.

Les devoirs
(English from now on!)
1 The 3 -er verbs _ manger, lever, partager present, passsé composé, imperfait, future simple
2. Conversation. 1 or 2 phrases from pages 86 and 87 of Salut and please be prepared to speak about them
3. April's Bien Dire
_ just one of the tracks
4. If there’s time, Our reader, ch3 pages 179-181. Don't forget the questions at the end.

Perhaps this order will give more actual conversation to keep our enforcer happy (we might have to contain our excitement over the dénoument of the story!)

A la prochaine

Hélène

If you are interested in Conversational French then please contact our group coordinator Helen Mills using the "Click to Send a Message" facility on the upper right of this page. Helen will give you directions to meetings. Regular members will continue to be contacted by email.

STOP PRESS

This group has proved to be so popular that the size of the group is now capped. This is because meetings are held in member's homes and there is a limit to the size of group that can fit into most lounges but some of our work is done in smaller groups. If you are interested in joining this group then please contact Helen as described above. Your name will be added to a waiting list. If there is sufficient interest then we might start another group or consider meeting in a suitable hall which is large enough to accommodate the group.
