Canasta

The Canasta group failed to restart properly after the coronavirus lockdown. Sadly, two of our former members are no longer with us and another returned to Australia. However, a small but enthusiastic group are keen to play Canasta again.

Group Leader, Lynda Cameron is planning to restart on the first Tuesday in December, (5th December 2023), at 2.00 pm in her home. Existing members will be contacted and potential new members are invited to use the "Click to send a message" link on the right of the page.

Lynda, the group leader needs to know from week to week who is attending, so please contact Lynda Cameron by telephone to confirm your attendance and to gain directions to her home.

Canasta originates from Montevideo, Uruguay and was created around 1939. It spread rapidly around the world and there are a number of variations and sets of rules.

Because it can be played by between two and six players, it is more flexible than Bridge, where you can only play with groups of four.
