Pétanque

Pétanque is a great social game that can be played almost anywhere; on the beach, in your garden or on almost any spare bit of ground. It’s also a great social game with simple and easy to follow rules. Pétanque is fun! The equipment required is not expensive and although some skill is required most people can become good social players with just a little practise.

The Group Leader for the Pétanque Interest Group is Dr Roddy Owens.

The group meets on Saturday mornings at 10.30a.m. during the better weather. Existing group members will be contacted should a game be in the offing. This year we played on pistes at the "Portknockie Tennis and Bowling Club".

The Moray Coast U3A is grateful to the Portknockie Tennis and Bowling Club for allowing us to use their facilities for the modest sum of £1.00 per person per session. Access to club house facilities and the storage of equipment is included in this fee.

There is also a link to the Rules of Pétanque which you can download and a link to a commercial website that sells Pétanque Equipment. This is not a recommendation for any particular company but is simply included to illustrate the range and prices of equipment available. If you are new to this sport then members of the Pétanque Group will advise you. There are usually spare sets of boules available for use by those new to the sport.

Pétanque has now stopped for the winter months but will start up again in the spring.
