GARDEN VISITS 3
FEBRUARY 2024
We had an enjoyable visit to the Garden House at Buckland Monachorum, in spite of the showers. First we headed to the cafe with incredible cakes and then began our trail with the Arboretum which contained a large pond. Some trees were in bud with small blossoms. Throughout the trail were snowdrops, daffodils, crocus, hellebores and heathers, the camelias were beginning to shine through as well as some rhododendrons. The trail led us over a wooden bridge covered in wisteria branches, a promise of wonder and delight for later on in the season.
We ended our visit at the plants for sale section.
Our next meeting will be on 12 March at Endsleigh Gardens
OCTOBER
This month Garden Visit 3 enjoyed exploring Lukesland near Ivybridge. There was a stream running through the entire garden tumbling over rocks slopes and drops which made waterfalls. Some of the water was directed to ponds along the route. We walked along many paths with beautiful tree vistas while looking for the Hankerchief tree. At last, we found it full of fruit, it was very old and had to be supported. After thisit was time for a cup of tea and a
piece of cake at the house.
