Coffee Cake and Chat
MARCH
Thank you to those who made it to Harbour Bites to-day, there were 7 of us who braved the wet weather,although it was not as wet as I expected it to be.
The place was empty, having only reopened a few weeks ago, the staff were friendly and helpful, costs were very reasonable. Although we are a Coffee,Cake and Chat Group, I had a very nice crispy bacon roll and a large americano for just £5. Others enjoyed flapjacks and lemon drizzle cakes. They are also open on Sundays for a Roast lunch at £13.25 if I had remembered the price correctly.
Our next outing will be on 11th April to Cafe Bene, 17 Bishops Place, West PL13BW meeting as usual at 10.30 am.
The parking should be easier than to-day and the number 25 bus runs close by
Please let me know by Sunday 7th April if you can or cannot make it.
FEBRUARY
10 of us met up at the Veg Patch to-day for our Coffee, Cake and Chat get together.
We all managed to get there before the rain started, after a little bit of shuffling around, two tables were put together so that we could all sit closer to each other,
Coffee was good, cakes were a little limited, although everyone seemed to find something to go with the coffee, including freshing baked filled croissants.
Our next meet up with be on
14th March at Harbour Bites Cafe, Marine Bar, Vauxhall Quay, Sutton Harbour PL40DN.
We would welcome new members to join our very friendly and chatty group.
JANUARY
10 members of the Coffee, Cake and Chat group met today at Duttons Continental Cafe
which is situated between Plymouth`s Hoe and the Historic Barbican. Unfortunately it was
far too cold for us to sit outside and admire the view across Plymouth sound. Parking today
was easy as there few people about, probably due to the very cold weather. Conversation
flowed and we were there for almost 2 hours. The cream teas were appreciated by those that
tried them, saying the scones were nice and warm along with plenty of jam and cream.
Our next outing is on Thursday 15 th February at the Veg Patch, 73 Mutley Plain, PL4 6JJ,meeting at 10.30 as usual.
NOVEMBER
8 members of this group went along to Kardampa on Mutley Plain for our monthly get together. What a wonderful atmosphere and so very helpful staff we had to serve us. The place is run by volunteers, and they could not have been more helpful or pleasant. The scones which were made by another volunteer were large and vegan were very nice. There was ample supplies of jam and cream, which was topped up if you wanted more. Claire, the volunteer manager took, us into the meditation room and explained the names of the Budhas on display and their meanings.
Every one enjoyed themselves and found Kardampa a very interesting place.
Our next get together will be on Thursday 14th December at B Kinda Cafe, The Ridgeway, Plympton at 10.30am. B kinda is owned and run by volunteers from St. Lukes Hospice, so any profit from the cafe goes back into the running of the hospice. Hope to see as many there are possible, please let me know by Sunday 10th December if you can or cannot come along.
AUGUST
There were just 7 of us at the By the Park Cafe, the cakes were delicious I am told, and everyone enjoyed the ambience and friendly staff in the cafe. This was another independent cafe, something I have been trying to do since the group started to use local cafes. So far we have been lucky, all our meetups have been to good places, some better than others.
Our next meetup is on Thursday 14th September at The Ground Coffee Shop, 192 Amarda Way, Plymouth.
There will not be a get together in October as I am away, but hope to have a new venue for our meet up in November.
