This is a very popular group co-ordinated by Jill and Pauline. Jill will be coordinating some extra events for the Weekenders from May 2018. Pauline has kindly agreed to continue arranging the meals. This means the group members will be getting emails from both of the co-ordinators at times. Hopefully this doesn't get too confusing. Basically please contact whoever sends you the information, but if you are in any doubt contact Jill.
On Sat February 29th 16 of us went to Posatanas for a very nice Italian meal. Everyone agreed it was one of the best. On Sunday 15th March 12 of us went to the Borringdon Golf club for a carvery. It's a good venue with lovely views . We all knew it would be the last meal out until this corona virus outbreak is over.
Our first Sunday lunch of the year was taken at the Lopes, an old favourite. A bit more thought into the layout of the vegetable dishes along the long table would have been appreciated, as some people had to wait a long time. However still a good meal and no doubt we will return.
A good turnout of Members enjoyed a delicious Italian meal at Positanos, many choosing 2 courses having been enticed by the dessert display. Italian waiters and good wine so a definite venue to return to.
The Weekenders celebrated Pauline's Birthday with an afternoon tea at the Duke of Cornwall. We had a lovely round table in a private room and much hilarity followed over sandwiches, pastries, cake and scones.
Our first lunch was a change of theme at the Chinese Restaurant, Red Lantern, where we now have a regular large round table. We topped off the year with Christmas lunch in Leandras which is also a regular in our diaries. Delicious as always and with friendly attentive service.
Here's to more fun and sharing of tables in 2020.
We enjoyed two lunches in November, the first at Lockyers Quay which had been redecorated and is now a Cookhouse and no longer under the Table chain. Glad to report that the menu remains wide ranging and very reasonable. Our second trip was to Eastgate in Tavistock which is always excellent. We also enjoyed the Children in Need entertainment with many Morris dancing groups gathered together including our favourite Dartmoor Border Morris - and Pudsey of course!
There was a good turnout for lunch at the Dartmoor Diner where tasty offerings included all day breakfast, traditional roast and Specials including moussaka. The dessert board was also full of choice and made for some difficult decisions.
Later in the month we enjoyed Sunday lunch at the Village on the Barbican where the garlic mushroom starter was popular and the main course portions ensured that no one went home hungry! A few of us followed up with a cuppa sitting in the Autumn sun by Captain Jaspers.
The Weekenders had two well supported outings for lunch in September. Firstly returning to the Staddon Heights Golf Club for a tasty, traditionally home made Sunday Roast and to admire the fantastic view of the Sound.
The second was our first, and hopefully not last, visit to the Dock at Kings Point Marina. The menu was varied and all the dishes well presented. Luckily the weather was kind enough to enable us to enjoy more lovely views and possibly choose our next yacht!
Many thanks to the volunteer drivers who are much appreciated.
