Creative Writing
Hello, dear Readers. I hope that you will be interested to know about the Creative Writing Group. We meet once a month, on the first Thursday, between 10.00 and 12.00 at Mary Magdalene Church Hall, Brampton. There is free parking at the front of the Hall and enter through the door at the back of the Hall.
Our Creative Writing Group has been going for sixteen years now and it just amazes me how wonderful the members’ responses are to our activities.
We have explored a wide range of themes and topics, styles and genres, lengths and details, as well as moods. Each member shows a completely personal way of responding to the writing task, which makes us all realise that there is such a variety to be found in the minds of people ‘of a certain age’!
Our monthly session is two hours long, so that we spend the first hour hearing everyone read out their response to the previous task set. It gives us an opportunity to discuss, ask questions and make comments to each other (and perhaps pick up some new ideas ourselves). Then, for the second hour, one of the members of the group leads us into what we are going to write to bring to the next month. These presentations cover titles, writing skills, memories, personal experiences, leaving us all with a lot to think about when we go away to write our next piece.
Anyone who is interested in joining us to have a go is very welcome. Just feel free to come and listen, join in the discussion and have a go!!
