Friendship+
Friendship Plus:
We are pleased to say that we are now in touch with a small number of our members who have some difficulty in getting to meetings but who wish to remain members of HU3A. Some need an occasional lift to meetings or groups; others are just pleased to have a chat over the phone to keep in touch.
So we are looking for volunteers to ensure that we can help in any area when we are asked to do so. Currently these include Brampton, Buckden, Godmanchester, The Hemingfords and Central Huntingdon.
It’s perhaps worth re-stating what Friendship+ is all about. There are many reasons why people may have to stop attending meetings or groups temporarily. Whilst we are not able to do the work of social services, we can offer some support – sometimes a chat over the phone while someone is housebound can make all the difference.
Obviously with a membership of over 500 we need you to let us know when Friendship+ is needed. If you have any friends that you think might need such help let us know and we will try to help. Simply contact Teresa Cole or Chris Hart, details in Upstream or send a message using the "Click to send a message!" on this page.
In order for Friendship+ to develop further, we need volunteers to help and/or make the odd chatty phone call to brighten someone’s day or offer an occasional lift. It won’t be a huge commitment – as always, if tasks are shared it’s not a massive undertaking.
