Table Tennis
MARCH/ONWARDS - 2020
We hope to play again on Friday at the Leisure Centre but not while "The rule of 6" is in place.
The group leader Lawrence Whitehead can be contacted using the link on this page.
We had a total of 20 members interested in playing table tennis.
We played at
the Huntingdon Leisure Centre, St. Peters Road
on Friday afternoons from 2 - 3 o'clock - or later dependent on numbers.
We had two tables to play on usually with around 12 members turning up each week - so plenty of games.
We had 12+ regular players on the last 2 weeks playing weeks in March.
We hope to play again on Friday at the Leisure Centre when the circumstances are appropriate - ?2021?.
We generally play doubles either mixed, mens or womens, but we can play singles if the turnout is low. We are of mixed abilities but all have improved our games significantly since the group started some eight years ago - however we all have our increasing number of "senior" moments.
We used to go to the Leisure Centre cafe after we have finished for a drink and a natter to put the world to rights - but we will have to see if that is appropriate when we can restart .
Bats can be provided for newcomers and both beginners and "I haven't played for years" members are welcome.
Generally the cost was £1.00 to £1.50 to cover the hire of the tables.
You have to be, or intend to become, a member of the Huntingdon U3A in order to join the Table Tennis group.
I will inform the present group when it will be appropriate to restart.
