Update of Website Feb 2021
Prior to the Covid pandemic, the Local History Group would mix talks and visits to local places of interest.
In Spring 2020 we were looking forward to going to see the Roundhouse at Beeston Castle. One of our members has helped with the project to construct it from the start. We hope to visit as soon as guidelines allow groups to go into the Roundhouse which is of course a confined space.
Following a talk about the Roman roads near Chester we plan to visit part of the Bishop Burton Way and Stoney Lane, Delamere. We will also visit Chester itself where there is so much Roman history.
We have continued to meet via Zoom over the last year with usually around 20 to 25 members joining. Members have come up with some wonderful subjects to tell us about.
We have also enjoyed talks about the Master Foresters of Delamere, St Peter’s Church Delamere, the Wilbrahams, the Tollemaches and about Toponymy, Knutsford and Stockton Heath. We have even had a talk about a member’s family connections to the Spanish Armada.
New members are always welcome.
