The Local History Group would normally meet once a month but at present we are in touch only by email. Members of the Group are sending in quiz questions based on Local History. As convenor I send out the questions but withhold the answers for a few days. I then send the answers out with the next batch of questions. I have asked the Group if they wanted to take part in an on line meeting but it was not thought viable. Some members have opted to do research towards a talk later in the year. I am open to more ideas from members of the Group. Liz Carter
In normal times, the Local History Group has a membership of about 50 but as the average attendance at a meeting is about 15 - 20 so new members are welcome.
In the past year we have visited Macclesfield’s Silk Museum, two local churches, Walk Mill and Tattenhall Hall’s beautiful gardens. We have enjoyed a walking tour of Welsh Row, Nantwich and hope to do a similar tour of the centre of Nantwich soon.
In addition we have enjoyed talks and notably one by English Heritage about their Roundhouse project at Beeston Castle. We are lucky to have a member who is a volunteer for English Heritage and shows visitors around the Roundhouse.
Trips were being planned to Norton Priory and Speke Hall.
