Art Appreciation

Rodin
The Art Appreciation Group meets monthly at Tarporley Community Centre. We have a variety of activities, visits to local galleries or exhibitions, talks by members on their particular topic of interest, DVDs about artists and their work and sometimes a visiting artist will come to speak to us. We are open to members' ideas and might follow a theme over one or two meetings, for example: Women Artists or the Scottish Colourists, sharing our knowledge and learning as we go along. New members are always welcome.

SPECIAL NOTICE:
The Art Appreciation group has three places available to U3A members on a visit we have arranged to Manchester Art Gallery. We will have a tour of the current Annie Swynnerton exhibition: Painting Light and Hope.

Annie Swynnerton studied at Manchester School of Art and was the first woman member of the Royal Academy. She was a friend of the Gaskells and Millicent Fawcett. She was a feminist and suffragist. Some of you may remember this exhibition being mentioned during our visit to Mrs Gaskell’s House.

The date is 9th October and we plan to leave Tarporley on the minibus at 9am. Our tour is from 11am to 12 pm. We plan to leave the Art Gallery at 2.30 pm, arriving back in Tarporley at approximately 4 pm. The cost will be between £12.50 and £10, depending on the take up of the remaining minibus places.

If you would like a place on the trip, please email Raye Hurst using the link to the right or ring 01829 261785
