Bridge 10 Masterclass
Bridge - 10 Saturday Master Class - East Molesey, once a month, including teaching, playing sessions in the morning and afternoon and lunch (at £15 p.p).

The Leader says:
"When I joined the U3A in 2017 and eagerly looked through the Newsletter for details of classes something surprised me – the lack of sessions in the evenings and at weekends. Bridge was taught and played in two hour slots – how pleasant would it be to combine bridge, food and conversation into a longer session. And so the idea of a Bridge Masterclass was born.
The Bridge Masterclasses started in October 2017. These are intended for bridge players who have been playing for some time, but who want to stay sharp and pick up some new techniques, tips and tricks. There are two groups of eight who meet on the second and third Saturdays of the month respectively. The Masterclass number is specifically eight, so I also have a back up group of reserves who fill in when required. Unfortunately, after some initial drop off, the current group members are very dedicated, so the opportunities for the reserves to drop in, are rare.
The classes start at 10am and we have a short taught session followed by seven played hands on the topic taught. At 12 we stop for lunch and drinks and very free flowing conversation, followed by another two hour session in the afternoon.
I have been involved in education virtually all my life and firmly believe that teaching must be fun for all of those involved – and this format certainly seems to work by combining learning and entertainment.
Sadly, at the moment, there is no room for anyone else and we have material for another year or so. However, at some point, the material will run out and we will have to restart the sessions with new members, so, as they say, watch this space
